历史 & 社会研究 DepartmentThe focus of study in the 历史 和 社会研究 Department is to prepare our cadets for college by requiring them to write extensively 和 develop critical thinking skills. 除了, the department also strives to prepare our cadets to be citizens who are fully capable of participating in our democratic process.
Middle School 历史 is a survey course of United States history from the colonial period through the modern era. Students will utilize a variety of sources in their study to include primary source materials. From their study, students will develop an underst和ing of the course of United States history from its founding to the 21st century.
Designed as an 8th grade course, 世界地理 explores the main physical features of the earth’s surface. As each geographical area is studied, countries in those areas, their economies 和 politics, are also discussed. Maps are used extensively.
世界历史 is a two-semester course. The first semester is concerned with the ancient world; the second semester deals with the medieval period. Primary source materials are used throughout 和 students are required to write extensively about historical topics.

United States Government is an in-depth study of the governmental system 和 politics of our country. A comparison is made between our form of government 和 those of other countries. 具体地说, the course examines constitutional principles, 国会, 总统, the Supreme Court, political parties 和 international relations 和 policies.

Each 周六, a trip will be offered to the cadets. In the past these have been: Shen和oah Caverns, Skyline Paintball, 国王统治, 和 Massanutten Water Park. These are subject to change. The third weekend (July 17-18) is typically considered an open weekend. Students are able to take leave (go home) on this weekend. |
